Collection: Whatever Heaven

The Los Angeles-based Ambient and New Age group Whatever Heaven is releasing "The Divine Right Of Kings" their follow-up to 2021's full-length "cover" record "Ambient Rumours".

The new EP emerged after the group's first forays into live performance in 2023. This album features Whatever Heaven as a duo, consisting of Jeremy Leasure (of New Balance) on various Casio keyboards and Garrett La Bonte (of La Bonte, Object Of Affection, Tunnel) on bass.

"The Divine Right Of Kings" was heavily influenced by the following quote from noted science fiction author Ursula K. Le Guin:

"We live in capitalism, its power seems inescapable — but then, so did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art."

The EP can musically recall the darker work from German bands like Cluster or Tangerine Dream, but with Le Guin's words in mind, there is an aching hopefulness to the track that shines through.
